Audio Driver Stopped Working After Windows Update

After the latest Windows update, my speakers stopped working. The volume icon shows a red 'X,' and it says, 'No audio output device is installed.' I didn’t uninstall anything. How do I fix this?

Another thing you can try is downloading the driver directly from your sound card or motherboard manufacturer’s website. Sometimes, the drivers from Windows Update aren’t the most compatible. After downloading, install it manually and restart your PC. It worked for me when I had the same issue!

This usually happens because the update might have replaced or corrupted the audio driver. Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager), find your audio driver under 'Sound, video and game controllers,' and right-click to select 'Update driver.' If that doesn’t work, uninstall it and restart your PC—Windows will reinstall it automatically.
